INDIGENOUS RELATIONS DIRECTOR

With over 20 years effective Indigenous consultation, community engagement and policy experience, Winona plays an essential role in the implementation of industry projects. She recognizes the importance of Indigenous inclusion and narrowing the socio-economic gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

As President of Indigenous Innovative Solutions Inc., Winona is a strong advocate and leader in workforce development and Indigenous engagement.  Her knowledge of the natural environment helps to foster the growing demand for the sharing of traditional ecological knowledge and wise management practices that will aid in reducing our environmental footprint. She is humbled by the opportunity to work collaboratively with other visionaries in advancing Indigenous prosperity and environmental stewardship.With a strong connection to her Anishinaabe roots in Manitoba, Winona lives out her passion for people and the environment through storytelling, philanthropy and supporting the economic and cultural aspirations of Indigenous people across Western Canada.  She is committed to working with individuals in the management of Alberta’s rich natural resources. These include engaging with Indigenous communities, energy and forestry industries, environmental community, and with various levels of government. Her work and volunteer experience spans over three decades focusing her efforts on creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous people through education, employment and mentorship.
